So as you must have realized by now, I wasn't in attendance for last night's Pub Quiz. Now don't worry; no horrible tragedy befell me. I was actually ROCKING THE FUCK OUT at the metal show in Camden last night. So I figured, in lieu of a review of the Quiz, I'd give a mini-review of the concert.
To start, everyone in the group decided to forego Testament and drink at National Mechanics. That was our first mistake. We ended up getting pretty sauced, missing the ferry and consequently missing most of Motörhead, which was the main reason I was going. So now I'm quite drunk, getting liberal with the $10, 22 oz. lagers and Heaven and Hell, fronted by Ronnie James Dio, step on stage. For those of you who don't know, this is what Ronnie James Dio looks like and this is what he sounds like. Needless to say, the show rocked, I continued to get drunker and then Judas Priest came out. They were also (surprisingly) very good, but with Rob Halford rocking out in a sparkly, golden robe and my inebriation nearing the tipping point, I decided to call it quits.
I stumbled back over to the ferry, had a pleasant conversation about Neutral Milk Hotel and then stumbled home. Now I'm suffering from the worst hangover I've experienced in a long time and listening to Ace of Spades to ease the pain.
Final thoughts: Metal fucking rules and drinking too much beer has serious consequences in the morning including loss of creativity and GI issues.
Congrats to Something Else by Lil' Roy and Punctual Heroes, last night's winners. See you next week , teams!
